As a young girl, I dreamt of working for Hallmark. I thought it would be the grandest thing to design card fronts and right the sayings on the insides of the cards... yes, I was a dreamer. But who wouldn't want to do that when as a college student, I loved going to a corner book store on my lunch breaks and admired all the different stationery and certain collections of cards - the ones that looked like paintings were my favorites. I even rearranged (when no one was watching, of course!) mismatched color envelopes that were on display because they were not good color combinations. ;)
I had to make a living for myself as a college graduate, so I did not pursue my Hallmark dream... instead I worked as an interior designer for two years before choosing an entirely different career path as a paralegal. After sixteen years as a paralegal, and being married to my high school crush, I was blessed with my next career move as a stay-at-home mom!
So what does a mom like to do other than play with her child? Photograph and journal every moment of the child's life is what this mom loved doing! My loving husband dubbed me "the paparazzi" on several occasions. So I started scrapbooking to document all the wonderful memories. Well, three months after I started having fun with my scrapbooking neighbors, we moved from Georgia to Ohio.
Being in a new state, far away from my favorite scrapbook store, family and friends, I was getting really homesick until I received a homemade card from a neighbor. She didn't make the card, but her niece did. I LOVED IT! So I started searching the internet about stamps - rubber stamps. Being a former DSA consultant for a basket company, I thought there had to be something of the sort for rubber stamps. And that's how I found Stampin' Up! in 2007.
I loved everything about the company especially how everything color coordinated from the cardstock to the ink pads and even the embellishments. So I took a leap of faith on the website and picked the consultant that I wanted to connect with... and it's been history ever since.
During my son's early childhood school days, I made hundreds of goody bags, Valentine's Day cards and teacher appreciation gifts. It was always so much fun to share my handmade creations. This was way before Pinterest and Bloglovin' so I got my first ideas from the Stampin' Up catalogs and my demonstrator. But it didn't take long for me to start creating my own original ideas and projects.
In 2015, APM Creations was created when I purchased a custom design stamp from a small online business so the back of my cards looked more professional. So yes, dreams do come true, because I've been making others smile... one creation at a time ever since!
