Today's Project

This month's sketch was just the inspiration that I needed to create a special card for one of my cousins who has an upcoming milestone birthday!  Sketches are always fun to use as there are so many ways to interpret them.  Here is our sketch for this month:

And here is what I was inspired to create...

Project Details

My cousin loves flowers as much as I do, so it wasn't too hard for me to select this amazing Online Exclusive Simply Zinnia Bundle as the focus of the design.  The zinnias were stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Basic White Cardstock.  The images were colored with Melon Mambo, Granny Green Stampin' Blends following the sketched shading as coloring guides for the dark vs light coloring.  After using the coordinating die to die-cut the image, it was adhered to my favorite Spotlight on Nature circle die with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

The Melon Mambo cardbase was scored and folded to create a fun-fold!  The assembled circle was adhered with a tad of glue on Stampin' Dimensionals onto three embossed 5/8" Basic White Cardstock strips.  TIP:  The Zinnia 3D Embossing Folder includes stems so make sure they are going in the direction that you wish on your cardstock... something I noticed while photographing my card! **WINK**

Simply Zinnia and Sentimental Park combined to make the perfect birthday sentiment for my cousin.  with a little stamping, fussy-cutting and adhering with strips cut from Stampin' Dimensionals edges.  Basic White Baker's Twine was doubled, tied into a bow and adhered to the circle with a Mini Glue Dot.

A sheet from the Flowering Zinnias 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper is the anchor design of the card.  It is cut and adhered to two panels of the fun-fold leading to the inside of the card.

The zinnia image was stamped and colored on the inside panels to compliment the card front.  The Basic White Medium Envelope front and flap were stamped and embossed to complete the card ensemble.

  1. Gorgeous card Angie ... stunning colours and so much texture with the embossed strips. The large tone on tone zinnia paper is perfect foil for your beautifully coloured feature zinnias. xxx

  5. Well now, I thought this was a stunner of a card and that was before I realised you'd sneaked in a fancy fold as well! Then it just went stratospheric! Great job, team leader :-)

  7. Wow Angie! That crease! And the alcohol marker work! There's a lot I like about this card: the bright colors, the surprise of the fold revealing the worked interior.... I'll end up taking the Zinnia lot ^^. Thanks for sharing!
