Ink and Inspiration Blog Hop Banner

Happy Thursday, y'all!  I'm so glad that you're here and hope you are having a wonderful day!  Today I am hopping with the Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop as we share inspiration from our Color Challenge! There are several of us hopping today - you will find the list to follow along towards the bottom of my blog post - so sit back and enjoy your favorite coffee, tea, water, or smoothie as we share some handmade projects with you!

Today's Project

Thankful that I was able to speak to my mom before I finished this card that I made for today's color challenge.  She had some sad news to share with me about some friends of hers... so I told her not to worry as I was making her a sympathy card.

Here is this month's color challenge that inspired the design of my card.

And here is what the result was after speaking with my mom...

Project Details

As usual I wanted to play with ALL with colors from the challenge!  I searched through my stamps for the perfect image and found it in the Dainty Delight stamp set.  The largest image was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a Basic White cardstock layer.  The image was colored with Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Highland Heather and Granny Apple Green inks, clear blocks and a Blender Pen.  The clear blocks were pressed onto the ink pads and then the Blender Pen lifted the ink off the blocks - one color at a time and wiping the Blender Pen multiple times until it showed no color.

The coordinating die was used to create a mask to cover the image.  Azure Afternoon ink was softly blended over and around the die-cut until the deserved shading was achieved.  The Thoughtful Expressions sentiment was stamped with Memento ink.  The three layers of Basic White cardstock were die-cut with a Thoughtful Expressions die simultaneously using 6-8 handcranks to get through all the layers.  The three die-cut layers were adhered together with Multipurpose Liquid Glue aligning the die-cut sections.  Linen Thread was wrapped around the layers twice and tied-off with a bow.  The layers were adhered the Basic White card base.  FINALLY, the colored die-cut was inserted into the opening with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  Brushed Brass Butterflies were added as a finishing touch.

The inside was layered, stamped, colored and die-cut to compliment the card front.  The Thoughtful Expressions sentiment was stamped on the recessed die-cut this time.   On the opposite side an additional Hope You Know sentiment was stamped and die-cut using the largest of the same shape Thoughtful Expressions die.  The Basic White Medium Envelope front and flap were stamped to complete the card ensemble.
