Hello stampers! I'm so glad that you're here and hope you are having a wonderful day! Today I am hopping with some of my talented stamping friends from around the world who love creating with Stampin' Up!® products as much as I do! We love hopping on the second weekends of the month - Saturday or Sunday depending on where you are in the world - and love sharing lots of inspiration with you. There are several of us hopping today - you will find the list to follow along towards the bottom of my blog post - so sit back and relax with your favorite cuppa as you peruse the hop.
This month we are sharing projects based on our Technique Challenge - Paper Piecing! I am sure that you will find lots of different interpretations and inspiration from this fun sketch.
Today's Project
Paper piecing is such a wonderful technique to play with when you have the itch to fussy cut! The technique is actually a technique used often in the quilting world so it was definitely something fun to try again.
Project Details
The branch and leaves were stamped on the Fresh As A Daisy 12" x 12" DSP using the two pieces from the "collective" sheet as the colors were perfect! The stamped were images were fussycut and adhered to piece of Fresh as a Daisy DSP die-cut with a Deckled Circle (coming soon in the upcoming September-December 2023 Mini Catalog!!!).
The two birds were stamped on pieces of Hello, Irresistible 6" x 6" DSP and on Basic White cardstock. Several pieces were fussycut and fit together like puzzle pieces until I decided on the perfect combination. Even the little beaks were fussycut! The die-cut clouds from the Waves Dies added some additional dimensional around the birds and branch.
The background was created by inking the inside of the crosshatch embossing folder on the smooth side prior to inserting a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Basic White Cardstock.
The White Center 12" x 12" Specialty DSP was the perfect finishing touch for the layer behind the crosshatched layer. Roughening the edges with the inside edge of my Paper Snips added some additional texture. The Cheerful Daisies sentiment was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and trimmed before adhering with the trimmed edges of the Stampin' Dimensionals - I use every bit of my dimensional sheets! **smile**
The inside of the card was inked and embossed to compliment the card front. While the Basic White Medium Envelope flap was embossed to complete the card ensemble.
More Inspiration
I hope that you have enjoyed this paper piecing technique and will use it yourself to create some cards for friends and family. Up next on the blog hop is the talented Aurélie where you can continue along to see what she and all the others have created. I am sure you will be filled with lots of inspiration! And should you be inspired, please leave us a comment... we love to hear from you.
