Happy Thursday, y'all! I'm so glad that you're here and hope you are having a wonderful day! Today I am hopping with the Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop as we share inspiration from this month's Color Challenge! There are several of us hopping today - you will find the list to follow along towards the bottom of my blog post - so sit back and enjoy your favorite coffee, tea, water, or smoothie as we share some handmade projects with you!
Today's Project
It's been a hot past several days here in NW Ohio with heat advisories creeping in last night (it was 88 degrees with a feels like 100 degrees at 8:00pm) and later today! Heavy rains started coming our way earlier this morning so hopefully our sandy clay soil will soak it up and help our grass revive to its beautiful soft touch under our feet vs the crunching we've been hearing over the past week.
I was inspired by the photo and the colors for this month's Color Challenge... and using all the colors was a must for this "special delivery"!
Project Details
Black-Eyed Susans and Coneflowers are some of my favorite flowers at this time of the year. The Cheerful Daisies Dies were the perfect way to create these beauties!
The two Black-Eyed Susans were die-cut from Basic White Cardstock. The centers were colored with the bullet tip of the Dark Wild Wheat Stampin' Blends Marker. The detailed die-cut center was blended with Wild Wheat ink and then edged with the bullet tip of the Dark Wild Wheat Stampin' Blends Marker. The petals were blended with Daffodil Delight ink.
The three Coneflowers were die-cut from Basic White Cardstock. The centers were colored with the Dark Wild Wheat Stampin' Blends Marker. The detailed die-cut center edge was colored with the bullet tip of the Dark Wild Wheat Stampin' Blends Marker. The petals were blended with Flirty Flamingo ink.
The leaves were die-cut from Basic White Cardstock and colored with a Garden Green ink applied with a Blender Pen. Three fern springs were die-cut from Basic White Cardstock and colored with the brush tip of the Dark Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends Marker.
A DIY stencil was made with the cloud edged die from the Basic Borders Dies. Smoky Slate ink was blended from the top down over the cloud stencil edge moving it randomly downward. The lower section was softly blended out without the stencil to complete the background.
The basket was woven with 1/8", 1/4" and 1/2" widths of Wild Wheat Cardstock strips. The completed 4" x 2" basket was softly rounded along the rim and adhered to the cloud background with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and doubled Stampin' Dimensionals at the top center.
The Tailored Tags Dies were used to create the embossed tag from Garden Green and Wild Wheat Cardstocks. The Trucking Along sentiment was perfect for this basket full of flowers.
The flowers were adhered over the largest Basic White silhouette die-cut with Stampin' Dimensionals while the greenery was adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
The inside was layered and stamped to compliment the card front allowing for plenty of room for corresponding to the recipient. The Black-Eyed Susan was stamped with Daffodil Delight and Wild Wheat. The coordinating die was used to create a mask for stamping the leaves with Garden Green ink. The Trucking Along sentiment was stamped with Wild Wheat ink. The Basic White Medium Envelope front and flap were stamped to coordinate with the inside to complete the card ensemble.
CREATIVE NOTE: I didn't think this card needed any embellishments until I decided to add some additional Dimensionals under the large Black-Eyed Susan to make it mail-proof. Five Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems were tucked underneath the petals for a little touch of sunshine. Talk about wow! I'll update this post later with a picture of the sparkles.
