Dainty Cup of Tea Thinking of You card! |
Happy Thursday, y'all! I'm glad that you're here and hope you are having a wonderful day! Today I am hopping with the Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop as we share inspiration for this month's Color Challenge! There are several of us hopping today - you will find the list to follow along towards the bottom of my blog post - so sit back and enjoy your favorite coffee, tea, water, or smoothie as we share some handmade projects with you!
Today's Project
Today's project is a Thinking of You card for a dear friend who is undergoing cancer treatments. This month's Color Inspiration Challenge was just what I needed to create this special card. I also relied on A Little Smile Kit CAS(e) I previously made for additional inspiration as it reminded me of the challenge photo.
Project Details
Use the Smooshing Technique to create the background for the teacup. Ink a Clear Block D with Bermuda Bay ink and smoosh it across a watered down strip of Shimmery White cardstock. Continue to twist and turn the Clear Block until the cardstock is completely covered with watercolor. Apply more ink and/or water to get the look you desire.
Emboss a Basic White cardstock layer with the Timeworn 3D Embossing Folder. Apply Crumb Cake ink several times with a Small Blending Brush.
Die-cut the Dainty Delight branch twice from Basic White cardstock. Damp watercolor the leaves with Old Olive ink and a Fine Tip Water Painter. Adhere to the embossed cardstock layer with small amounts of Multipurpose Liquid Glue creating an oval.
Die-cut the detailed Teacup from Basic White cardstock. Die-cut the solid Teacup from the Smooshed watercolored Shimmery White cardstock. Adhere the two die-cuts together with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
Stamp the A Cup of Tea small leaf tag with Tahitian Tide ink onto Basic White cardstock. Repeat. Stamp the citrus slice with Mango Melody ink onto Basic White cardstock. Die-cut the stamped images.
Snip the orange slice and slide over the top of the teacup.
Pull two white threads from a piece of Tahitian Tide Baker's Twine. Adhere one end of the twine between the two teabag tags. Loop the twine around the teacup handle and tuck behind the teacup. Adhere the teacup to the embossed layer with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
Stamp the A Little Smile sentiment with Coastal Cabana ink onto a strip of Basic White cardstock. Die-cut with the Stylish Shapes narrow banner to create a smaller banner for the sentiment. Adhere to the embossed layer with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Tie a doubled Linen Thread bow and adhere behind the sentiment banner with a Mini Glue Dot.
Adhere the embossed layer to a slightly larger Basic White cardstock layer. Adhere to a Thick Basic White cardstock layer to create a subtle raised layer on the Crumb Cake card base.
Layer and emboss the inside to compliment the card front. A Cup of Tea sentiment stamped with Coastal Cabana ink on a Stylish Shapes die-cut banner was flushed to the embossed, ink blended strip. A trio of orange slices appear behind the banner leaving plenty of room for a handwritten note to the recipient.
Finish the card ensemble by embossing and ink blending the flap of the Basic White Medium Envelope to compliment the card.
