Today's Project
Fall is in the air here in NW Ohio and yesterday morning we had the most amazing clouds in the sky before sunrise! The sky was a dark gray with fluffy clouds... breathtaking as streaks of sunlight were peaking behind them... too dark for a picture, but nevertheless the inspiration that I selected for today's color palette to go with the Sketch 102 that I chose!
I love classics... so I chose the plaid sketch to create a special birthday card with a paper weaving background.
Project Details
Using scraps leftover from cutting the Basic Gray card base, strips were created to start the paper weaving. Basic White strips were cut to create the basketweave background. The woven background was embossed with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder. Hand-torn woven edges established the edges of the weaving. Smaller strips of Basic White were added to balance the paper weaving. The completed weaving was lightly adhered together with dots of Multipurpose Liquid Glue along the edges. The weave was adhered to the Vellum layer with Tear & Tape Adhesive. The Vellum was adhered likewise to the Basic Gray card front.
The largest Cottage Rose image was stamped with Basic Gray ink three to four times onto Basic White cardstock. The leaves were colored with Light Old Olive and Soft Succulent Stampin' Blends Combo Markers while the branches were touched with Dark Crumb Cake. The dried cluster blooms were colored with Dark Cajun Craze. The rose was colored completely with Light Calypso Coral, Dark So Saffron, Dark Daffodil Delight on one image while layered sections were colored on the remaining images. The images were fussy cut, rounded for a natural look and adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots and Multipurpose Liquid Glue depending on the layer size/location. The sentiment was stamped with on a scrap strip of Basic White, trimmed with Paper Snips and adhered with a Stampin' Dimensional strip. A double looped Linen Thread bow was adhered with Mini Glue Dot.
The inside was stamped to compliment to the card front with an additional die cut stamped image adhered to the inside left side.
