Watercoloring with Celebrate Sunflowers. |
Happy Thursday, y'all! I'm so glad that you're here and hope you are having a wonderful day! Today I am hopping with the Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop as we share inspiration from this lovely Color Challenge. There are several of us hopping today - you will find the list to follow along towards the bottom of my blog post - so sit back and enjoy your favorite coffee, tea, water, or smoothie as we share some handmade projects with you!
Today's Project
The minute I saw this photo inspiration, I knew I wanted to have fun creating some sun rays... I actually originally intended to use a fabulous background stamp that I haven't played with it! However, I received some happy mail from my friend, Kayla, recently and was inspired by her use paper for the beams of light from a lighthouse. So I picked one of the DSPs from Sale-a-Bration to play with for creating some sun rays...
Project Details
The Silver & Gold 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper was perfect for blending ink for an ombre effect with Pale Papaya ink... using a clear block for applying the ink to the Blender Brush made the entire blending process go quicker.
I love to watercolor so out came my Broad Tip Water Painter and some Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper trimmed to 4" x 5-1/4". The water painter was soaked and swiped along the watercolor paper creating a wet rectangle. The sky was created with Balmy Blue ink and the field was created with Pear Pizzazz ink. Once done, water was sprinkled onto the watercolored background from the palm of my hand.
The Celebrate Sunflower sunflower and leaf images were stamped with VersaMark ink onto Shimmery White cardstock, heat embossed with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder and watercolored with Pale Papaya (disk flowers), So Saffron (ray flowers), Soft Sea Foam, Pear Pizzazz and Evening Evergreen. Once dry, the watercolored images were die-cut with the coordinating Sunflower Dies.
The sunflower was cut in two to not completely cover up the watercolored background. The sun rays were cut with the paper trimmer at various angles and arranged around the sunflower and leaves. The Wildflower Path sentiment was heat embossed on Crumb Cake cardstock, embossed with a Stitched with Whimsy square die and trimmed down with the Paper Trimmer. The sentiment was adhered to the watercolored layer with Stampin' Dimensionals. The Fluid 100 Watercolor layer was adhered to an Evening Evergreen card layer then trimmed down to the desired dimensions for showcasing the background on the Crumb Cake card base. The card base front had been splattered by flicking the brush tip of my Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Marker inside the lid over the card base.
The inside was layered with a Shimmery White insert which was splattered along with the inside of the card to compliment the card front. The envelope front and flap was stamped with Crumb Cake ink to compliment the card.
The second piece of the sunflower was too pretty to place on the inside of the card, so a second card was created using the scrap remnants of the Silver & Gold DSP for the sun rays! The second card also focused on the lovely fluffy clouds. The cloudy sky was created with a punched cloud, a Blender Brush and Balmy Blue ink on a Shimmery White card layer.
The sunflower was adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals. Evening Evergreen and Soft Sea Foam leaves were tucked under the ray flowers with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and a Stampin' Dimensional. The Wildflower Path sentiment was heat embossed on a strip of Crumb Cake and adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. The Shimmery White layer was adhered to an Evening Evergreen layer. A slightly larger Soft Sea Foam layer was added prior to layering all to the Crumb Cake card base. The sentiment strip was textured at the end to be flush with the Evening Evergreen layer. Pearl Basic Jewels were added as a special touch of softness with two of the three being colored with my Light Old Olive Stampin' Blends Marker.
The inside was layered to compliment the card front. The envelope front and flap was stamped with Crumb Cake ink to compliment the card.
