Postage Due Monochrome Birthday Card |
Hello! I'm so glad that you're here and hope you are having a wonderful day! Today I am hopping with some of my talented stamping friends from around the world who love creating with Stampin' Up!® products as much as I do! We love hopping on the second weekends of the month - Saturday or Sunday depending on where you are in the world - and love sharing lots of inspiration with you. There are several of us hopping today - you will find the list to follow along towards the bottom of my blog post - so sit back and relax with your favorite cuppa as you peruse the hop.
This month we are sharing projects based on our Monochrome Color Challenge! I am sure that you will find lots of different interpretations and inspiration from this color challenge.
Today's Project
My hubby had a special card request so I couldn't resist featuring it with Shades of Blue Color Challenge this month! My hubby requested that I make a 90th birthday card for the father of one of his colleagues... of course, he had some special parameters for this gentleman who loved antique cars and speed boats. Whenever there are big birthdays like this, I always love to have something in the card with the exact number of the birthday... so yes, there are 90 postage stamps in this birthday card! I hope that this special milestone setter will enjoy counting each one of these stamps that were made with love by this avid stamper.
Project Details
The colors that I chose to use for this special card are inspired by the colors from the 1932 Winter Olympics which I found through Google.
I had previously planned on using every single one of the Stampin' Up! blues that I had so I had stamped 90 of the cars and the border from the Postage Collection stamp set (retired) with sixteen (16) amazing shades of blue. After spending time to trying to decide my layout, I decided to Google blue colors for 1932 and ran across the fabulous Olympic colors! I matched up the colors as close as possible and decided to focus on these five (5) amazing blues - Blueberry Bushel, Pacific Point, Marina Mist, Seaside Spray and Soft Sky!
The images from the Postage Due stamp set (retired) were all stamped with Night of Navy onto Basic White cardstock and adhered to the Night of Navy accordian fold slimline card. The Go To Greetings sentiment was stamped with Night of Navy onto Basic White scraps, fussy cut and adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals onto the card front.
The last section features the Best Year Stamp Set and Alphabest Bundle. The sentiments were stamped with Night of Navy ink with the border around the numbers being heat embossed in silver. The die-cut from the Tasteful Labels Dies (recently retired) was edged with silver ink obtained by pushing the edges into my Delicata Shimmery Silver ink pad (retired). The numbers were punched with the new Best Label Punch (included in the Alphabest Bundle).
The thickness of the card was a tight fit for the Slimline Envelopes so it was tucked away nicely into a standard business size envelope for delivery to the birthday recipient.
More Inspiration
I hope that you have enjoyed this color challenge and will use it yourself to create some cards for friends and family. Up next on the blog hop is Aurélie where you can continue along to see what she and all the others have created. I am sure you will be filled with lots of inspiration! And should you be inspired, please leave us a comment... we love to hear from you.
