Whitewashed Tulips for Valentine's Day! |
Hello friends! I hope you are doing amazing on this Mojo Monday. Today I am hopping with some Crafty Collaborators along the Valentine's Day Blog Hop as we share lots of inspiration related to, yes, all things love. There are several of us hopping today - you will find the list to follow along towards the bottom of my blog post - so sit back and enjoy your favorite coffee, tea, water or smoothie as we share some handmade projects with you!
Today's Project
Nothing like being inspired by fellow demonstrators! I was listening to Mary Deatherage last night while the hubby was watching football... she was inspired by a YouTube video that she saw by Lisa Freeman. Well, needless to say, I had to stop and see what she was doing and then my mind flew into mojo mode. This amazing "whitewash" technique is so fun and can be used with so many different color palettes and stamp sets! I chose to play with Flowering Tulips!
Project Details
Melon Mambo ink with the Craft White Ink Refill did all the work with a dried out Blender Pen. Stamping the small Flowering Tulips image in two corners of the Polished Pink Cardstock layer along with the stem and the smallest leaf created the focal points. Lisa Freeman used an inked Whisper White ink pad with a clear block, Mary Deatherage did the same but mixed some ink refill with it. My ink pad was pretty much dry with just a smidge of ink so I primarily used the ink refill on the Clear Block D allowing room to spread out the ink before applying with the older Blender Pen on the tulips and the leaves.
Once the images were dry, the layer was die cut with the 2nd smallest Scalloped Contours Die. The negative layer was adhered to the Melon Mambo cardbase with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. The center image was stamped on a separate piece of Polished Pink Cardstock and layered up onto a Melon Mambo layer. The sentiment was stamped with Melon Mambo ink onto a strip of Basic White cardstock. The White Baker's Twine was doubled to create a bow which was adhered with a Mini Glue Dot. The layers were adhered together with Multipurpose Liquid Glue onto the scalloped die-cut. The scalloped layer was adhered to the cardbase with Stampin' Dimensionals.
The inside was stamped and layered to compliment the card front. And, yes, it takes a while for the ink to dry when you apply too much... so remove access with the Blender Pen or cloth; otherwise, you and the recipient will get inky fingers as I did on the inside. **wink** The A Wish for Everything sentiment was stamped with Melon Mambo ink leaving plenty of room for a handwritten message. The envelope was stamped with a heart fill image from Sweet Conversations.
