Inspired by the back of the Watercolor Pencil box! |
Hello friends! It's Fri-YAY!!! Today I am hopping with some Crafty Collaborators along the Watercolor Pencils Blog Hop as we share lots of inspiration using watercolor pencils. There are several of us hopping today - you will find the list to follow along towards the bottom of my blog post - so sit back and enjoy your favorite coffee, tea, water or smoothie as we share some handmade projects with you!
Today's Project
I love a good challenge and finding a fun way to show you how to use your watercolor pencils was just what I needed. My color inspiration came from the back of the Watercolor Pencils box... and the interior designer in me started thinking of paint color samples. **WINK**
Project Details
Shaded Summer was just calling to me to be used as fall is just around the corner. The largest image was stamped with Night of Navy ink randomly on a Basic White Cardstock layer. Using the watercolor pencil to be used for coloring, a horizontal line was drawn. To create the cross-hatch effect, 45 degree angle strokes were made starting from the lower left corner to the right. Varying the pressure on the strokes aides to the different texture.
Once these background areas are shaded, the process is repeated starting from the lower right corner to the left. You may wish to stop after this; however, I chose to repeat the first layer going from left to right for more depth and texture.
The colored sections are approximately 2.6cm with 1mm between the sections. Yes, I'm an inches crafter; however, the size of the panel divided up so nicely with the metric side of my Small Grid Paper that I had on my Stamparatus.
The watercolor pencil background layer was adhered to a slightly larger Basic White Cardstock layer. The sentiment was stamped with VersaMark ink onto a scrap piece of Night of Navy, heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss Powder and trimmed with my Paper Trimmer. The card layers were adhered to the Night of Navy Card Base with Stampin' Dimensionals creating a mini slim card that fits perfectly in the Basic White Medium Envelopes. White Baker's Twine was wrapped around the front of the card and tied off with a small bow.
To complete the card the inside was stamped to compliment the card front. The envelope front and flap were also stamped to give the recipient a sneak peek for what's inside.
