Today's Project

Yesterday was the first day of Autumn here in the Northern Hemisphere... a weather front with lots of rain brought cooler temperatures to NW Ohio like perfect timing to say Autumn is here indeed!  This is one of my favorites times of the year as the days get cooler with rich hues coloring the outdoors.  The shorter days coincide with the need for added layers for warmth both inside and outside.

As my norm lately, I just can't stop at one when it comes to creating.  Sharing my creative process with you is always fun...  one idea lead to another and as I had a few leftover leaves from previous projects, along with some custom-colored pearls, well, I just had to use as many of them as I could, of course!  

Project Details

The creativity began with five previously die-cut Intricate Leaves with a common neutral hue... including two which had been created with the Baby Wipe technique.  Always arranging in odd numbers, the two oddball leaves worked perfectly with a Crumb Cake and two Cajun Craze leaves - one was off-stamped.  And then I found the other Cajun Craze leaves... hmmm.  What next?  

Then I remembered an idea from Brian King that he calls "overstamping"...  then the stamping began for the Soft Suede cardbase card.

The large splatter image was stamped in Cajun Craze ink repeatedly onto Very Vanilla cardstock until the cardstock layer was completely covered.  The three maple leaves (1-Crumb Cake, 1-Soft Suede and 1-off-stamped Cajun Craze) were arranged with the two remaining Baby Technique leaves (click here for the details creating these leaves).

The Heartfelt Wishes sentiment was stamped in Soft Suede onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and layered up two times creating a layered sentiment strip.  A piece of Crumb Cake Baker's Twine was double wrapped and tie-off with bow.  The sentiment panel was adhered over the Baker's Twine.  The stamped layer was adhered to a Very Vanilla Timber embossed cardstock layer.  Three pearls colored with a Dark Soft Suede Stampin' Blends were the finishing touch to the card front. 

No card is complete until the inside is complete.  The layers and overstamping were replicated to compliment the card front.  The Timber embossed layers were embossed only along the ends allowing for a smooth surface underneath the top layer.  The Very Vanilla overstamped layers allow plenty of room to correspond to the recipient.  

Stamping the envelope front and flap provides a delightful sneak peek for the recipient as to what is inside!

Wanting to use more of the remaining die-cut leaves, two additional cards were created to provide two different recipient based cards - one more masculine in nature than the other.  The leaves used as photograph crops were used to create a feminine wreath card.leaves were adhered with Mini Glue Dots.  A Pretty Pumpkins fussy cut sentiment adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals was added to the center.  The edges were roughened with scissors and the corners curled with a Bone Folder.   Custom colored pearls were the finishing touch.

The last card consisted of three leaves, a scored layer and a Soft Suede card layer creating a clean and simple card.  

The insides of these cards were left blank as they were created for a customer to correspond to recipients for any occasion.  Don't forget to stamp the envelope to compliment the cards to give the recipient a sneak peek of what's inside.
