It's all about the FONTS! |
Hey y'all! I'm so glad that you're here and hope you are having a wonderful day! Today I am hopping with some of my talented stamping friends from around the world who love creating with Stampin' Up!® products as much as I do! We love hopping on the second weekends of the month - Saturday or Sunday depending on where you are in the world - and love sharing lots of inspiration with you. There are several of us hopping today - you will find the list to follow along towards the bottom of my blog post - so sit back and relax with your favorite cuppa as you peruse the hop.
This month we are sharing things related to our Reading is FONTS-amental theme! Nothing like this wonderful theme to get you motivated to start making cards with lots of fonts or mixed media, right?! Write! **wink** There are so many wonderful ideas so hopefully you might give some of my ideas a try.
Today's Project
I love fonts and always have since my childhood... different types of fonts are everywhere. I was always fascinated by the different fonts used on book jackets... between the different types, colors, thicknesses, sizes, etc. I would often be more interested in the book jackets or spines in the library instead of the topic I was researching...
So to make a long story short, you may not be surprised that I don't always purchase stamp sets for the artwork!
Yes, I started simple for today's project... and then I had another idea... and then I forgot about another idea and woke up this morning to make it! I hope that you enjoy this trip of mine through the "fonts of ages"...
Project Details
A long time ago in France, there was a king... that built the beginnings of a palace that grew into much grandeur over time which represents all things 17th Century art. The Very Versailles stamp set had my attention from the moment I saw it... between the lovely delicate branch of leaves to the antiqued background font to the sentiment fonts. Well, actually, the historic art lover in me loved all the images of this stamp set. So with this stamp set, I created a Night of Navy and Basic White simple stamping card with a heat embossed sentiment strip to let the stamps themselves do all the talking.
To complete the card, the inside was simply stamped also along with the envelope front and flap.
The second card features my most favorite items from the newest mini catalog released earlier this month. The Nature's Harvest stamp set is so in tune with my daily walks on the bike trail... coneflowers are everywhere and just take my breath away with their beauty sprinkled amongst the edges of the fields along with QueenAnne's Lace and various other wildflowers.
The coordinating Nature's Dies perfectly cut out the flowers along with having a few silhouette images to die cut for an added background. The Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder was a must have for me... all the texture and font are just amazing for this fonts lover. The Heartfelt Wishes sentiment was just the touch I needed for a light, carefree, and yes, heartfelt message.
The inside replicates the coneflower image and the Timeworn Type embossing with the inside reminding me of an old book. The envelope front and flap were also stamped to complete the card.
The last card is the one that I just had to make to have somewhat of a mixed media project! Using the Ice Cream Spinkles (retired), Champagne Rhinestones, scraps of So Saffron Cardstock, remnants of White Baker's Twine and a bit of White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon along with my Bronze Stampin' Blends Marker, and the Dark Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends Marker I created my artwork for the day!
This was so fun to create and honestly, I do not even know if I will send this to someone... I just might keep it for myself as a gentle reminder for what to every day!
In these times, it is so important for us all to take time for ourselves! We need to have our time to rest, relax and just enough being alive and to enjoy life with our families, friends and nature... yes, nature... it is so important to get outside and breathe the fresh air and to enjoy the natural beauty around us. So the next time you're on a nature walk... you can remember that there is someone else in the world enjoying the same thing. We are all blessed to enjoy this time that we have on this beautiful world that God created until decides that it's our time to come home.
I so enjoyed creating the inside of the previous card, that I had to duplicate it for this one, but I included a subtle reminder to remember to BREATHE and enjoy the beauty of nature around us! These sentiments come from Nature's Harvest and Reflected in Nature.
More Inspiration
Now it's time for me to go spend some time with my sweet husband who has been waiting patiently for me to finish this blog post! I hope that these projects have inspired in more than one way. Up next on the blog hop is Rochelle where you can continue along to see what she and all the others have created. I am sure you will be filled with lots of inspiration! And should you be inspired, please leave us a comment... we love to hear from you.
