Happy Thursday, y'all! I'm so glad that you're here and hope you are having a wonderful day! There are several of us hopping today - you will find the list to follow along towards the bottom of my blog post - so sit back and enjoy your favorite coffee, tea, water, or smoothie as we share some handmade projects with you!
Today's Project
Clean and simple cards are using the hardest cards for me to create as I always love to add more than what is considered based on the definition of this style of card. After choosing the stamp set that I wanted to use for today, I pulled out the 2021-22 Annual Catalog and there on page 71 was where I found my inspiration.
As my norm lately, I just can't stop at one when it comes to creating. Sharing my creative process with you is always fun... so you must know I first created one card which led to the other. Why you might ask? As you will see, the card needed to be a bit more simplified.
Project Details
Cut a 3" square of Very Vanilla Cardstock down to four 1-1/2" squares. Starting with the larger square allows you to have creative aspects as to the actual size of squares you wish to have. Depending on the size of your cardbase, you can easily change the size of your squares. Select three different images from your stamps, I chose the Forever Fern images. Stamp each image in a different color, I chose the colors Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Shaded Spruce which are in the Regal Color Collection so they work together naturally thanks to Stampin' Up!
Arrange the stamped images on slightly larger Crumb Cake Cardstock square layer to make it easier to align the squares straight. Stamp the sentiment with Shaded Spruce ink onto some grid paper (or scrap paper) and then onto the remaining Very Vanilla square to create a softer hue of green complimenting the other three stamped squares. Adhere the stamped square panel layer to a larger Crumb Cake Cardstock square layer. Die-cut the large branch of leaves from Crumb Cake Cardstock and place where desired on the standard size Crumb Cake card base. Adhere the square layers to the cardbase front.
No card is complete until the inside is complete. The stamped images were replicated and trimmed down as seen at the top and bottom to create an elongated panel complimenting the card front. The Very Vanilla insert layer allows for plenty of room to correspond to the recipient.
Stamping the envelope front and flap provides a delightful sneak peek for the recipient as to what is inside!
After casing the catalog, I realized that the card I made did not really fall into the "clean and simple" category though it could with it being simple to stamp and recreate. So I started thinking and couldn't resist making an even more simple 2nd card. The squares and layers were all replicated with Very Vanilla and Very Vanilla Thick Cardstocks.
And as you can see the sentiment is the same also. The 4-1/4" Very Vanilla Thick card base was an automatic for this classic feeling design.
To complete the card, stamp the inside simply with one ink color, one image and a sentiment. You may even wish to just make some cards that resemble the insides of these cards! **WINK** And don't forget to stamp the envelope to compliment the card to give the recipient a sneak peek of what's inside.

The foliage is so tranquil and I love the formality of the squares and straight line.
