There are several of us hopping today - you will find the list to follow along towards the bottom of my blog post - so sit back and enjoy your favorite coffee, tea, water or smoothie as we share some handmade projects with you!
Today's Project
I love flowers... and the wildflowers in the inspirational challenge inspiration are definitely some of my favorites! And then you through in the new 2021-2023 In Colors and I was like - wow! Then I started thinking and smiling! Time to use all of these amazing colors with a handful of stamp sets - Daisy Garden, Wildly Adorable, Celebrate Sunflowers, and Hydrangea Haven - to create some fun Anne Geddes inspired mini slim cards!
Project Details
The horizontal top-folding Sahara Sand Mini Slim cardbases are 5-1/2" square, scored at 2-3/4", folded in half and burnished with a bone folder. TIP: You can get two horitonal top-folding and one vertical top-folding Mini Slim cardbases from one sheet of standard cardstock. This size also makes them the perfect width for the Basic White Medium Envelopes. You can shorten the envelope or line it with coordinating Designer Series Paper for a snugger fit, if you wish.
The Stamparatus is used to create the background on the 2-1/4" x 5" Basic White cardstock. Specifically, it is hinge stamping! You will place the Daisy Garden stamp on the base plate with the stems pointing towards the hinges. Lower the plate to grab the stamp, ink it up with Sahara Sand and stamp the grid paper. Move the plate down four (4) hinges, reink and stamp again. And you will see the delightful background! You will see a small opening at the bottom and that's where our "little one" will be going.
Align the Basic White card layer where you wish and make corner markings for making multiples. This will make the process so much easier for you. And while you have it set up this way, you can go ahead and stamp additional backgrounds of varying sizes and, of course, the envelope flaps. Now the fun begins! The bunny from Wildly Adorable is the little one featured on today's cards. The first little one or two that I stamped, I used washi tape to cover the bunny ears. Here's how this helps with stamping.
This works great when masking the little one and for single cards. I found it rather troublesome with multiples as it was easier to ink little one on the ink pad with the ears overhanging or stamping little one with ears. Why, you might ask? Since I ended up fussy cutting little one out, it didn't really matter that the ears were masked. Little one's outfit was colored with Soft Succulent, the hands and face with Light Petal Pink, and the tuft of hair with Light Soft Suede.
The small sunflower from Celebrate Sunflowers was inked in Sahara Sand three times and fussy cut. The centers were fussy cut by selecting a petal to cut along between the two leaves. The leaves were colored with Evening Evergreen and each petal head was colored with a different color... Pale Papaya, Fresh Freesia and Polished Pink. The lighter shades filled all the petals while the darker shades were applied along all the shading markings.
The little ones were adhered together lightly with liquid glue. The stamped backgrounds were adhered to color coordinating cardstock layers measuring 2-3/8" x 5-1/8".
The inside layers were replicated to match the card fronts. You can see in the previous pictures how the daisies were stamped. The Celebrate Sunflowers sentiment is perfect for so many occasions. And the daisies were colored with coordinating Stampin' Blends. The daisies and the sentiment were stamped on the envelope flaps.
