Butterfly Bouquet Blog Hop - March 2021

Hello y'all!  I am so glad that you've popped by on this sunny, cold Friday here in NW Ohio.  Today I am hopping with some Crafty Collaborators along the Butterfly Bouquet Blog Hop as we share projects related to these exclusive and early release products from the upcoming 2021-22 Annual Catalog.  There are several of us hopping today - you will find the list to follow along towards the bottom of my blog post - so sit back and enjoy your favorite coffee, tea, water or smoothie as we share some handmade projects with you!

Today's Project

Inspiration is everywhere!  I went shopping earlier this week for a duvet cover for my son and I spotted some butterflies that reminded me of this amazing new bundle...  

This sweatshirt in the Juniors department at Kohl's just had me reaching out wanting to touch it... it was soooo soft!  If I had been shopping for me... I would have come home with it!  So hopefully, I can get it later.  

Project Details

Using the Stamparatus, the Butterfly Brilliance stamp was inked with StazOn and stamped on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper multiple times to get a good impression of the butterflies.  The largest die from the Brilliant Wings Dies was used to die cut the butterflies which were watercolored with Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral and Bermuda Bay ink using the ink pad lids as my watercolor palette.

So Saffron cardstock was wadded up into tight balls several times (three for me) and scrunched in all directions until the fibers were broken down until they were soft.  

When you are happy with the feel of the cardstock, run it through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine as you would a die cut to press it flat.

The So Saffron vertical top-folding card bases are layered with 4" x 5-1/4" layers of So Saffron along with the soft fibered layer (which was also 4" x 5-1/4" before the softening occured).  The watercolored butterflies were layered across the three cards.  Pretty Perennials was used for the sentiments with one of the large sentiments being fussy cut.

The third card was left without sentiments to replicate the look of the original inspiration...  the dots were created with one of the smallest Brilliant Wings Dies.  The softer So Saffron layer was cut to 3" x 4-1/2" before the wadding began.  The 4" x 5-1/4" So Saffron layer was layered over a same size Basic Black layer to highlight the die cut dots.

The insides are always important in my creations...  with all the details on the card fronts, the insides all featured a single butterfly to allow room for correspondence to the recipients.  The envelopes were stamped with "happy mail" which was 2nd generation (aka "stamped off") Daffodil Delight.
