Today's Project
When I first saw the Basket of Blooms stamp set in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog, I knew that I would be making a cute basket around Easter. Why do you ask?!? I used to be Longaberger® Sales Consultant so my love of handwoven maple baskets inspiring my creativity! And with the warmer weather we have had these past few days, the Springtime Joy stamp set from the January-June 2021 Mini Catalog was wanting to come out to play.
Project Details
Inspired by the recent TGIF Color Challenge (#TGIFC306), my mind was full of cheer! I just knew that they would look delightful with the Crumb Cake Basket of Blooms basket that I had envisioned.
The basket was tapped with Crumb Cake ink and stamped onto 2" x 8-1/2" strips of Crumb Cake cardstock. The handle was inked and stamped along the edge of the original handle. Repeat these two steps (x2) for the number of baskets you wish to create. The baskets were fussy cut along the tops and handles. An extended edge was fussy cut around the basket base. The extended section was snipped to create the depth of the basket. Tear & Tape Adhesive was used to adhere along the edge followed by the 1/2" x 3-1/2" basket base.
When the basket has been formed, the strip ends are folded into the basket and the base is slightly pressed to give it fullness. The handles are connected with liquid glue. The sides of the basket were inked with the basket image from the rim down to the bottom for a finished looked. Small strips of Just Jade 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper are curled around a pencil to create curly filler.
The Springtime Joy rabbit and tulip images were tapped in StazOn ink and stamped onto Shimmery White cardstock. The rabbit was watercolored with Crumb Cake ink using the Fine Tip Water Painter and the lid of the ink pad as an ink palette. The flower head wreath was watercolored with Daffodil Delight, Gorgeous Grape and Just Jade. The tulips were watercolored with Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Flirty Flamingo, Blushing Bride and Just Jade. The watercolored rabbit images were fussy cut leaving a small amount below the image as a stand. The watercolored tulip images were fussy cut leaving a small wedge between the top of the right leaf and the bottom of the bloom. Tulips were arranged beside the rabbit and adhered with liquid glue.
The Crumb Cake sign was die cut with the Chick Dies. The Springtime Joy sentiment was tapped in Gorgeous Grape ink onto strips of Shimmery White cardstock, fussy cut and adhered to the sign.
These little baskets would be adorable tablescapes at your Easter dinners... I created these baskets to share with some very special seniors that I know thinking they would add some cheer to their days. And I am sure there are some Easter candies that would also fit perfectly inside them, too.
