Happy Thursday, y'all! Thanks for visiting the February 2021 edition of the Third Thursdays Blog Hop! So many of us are in the aftermath of Winter Storm 2021... we were blessed with about 8 additional inches of snow... and with the drifts, it's even more! Sale-A-Bration is in it's last two weeks... until it comes back this summer! So today I am giving you a little inspiration as to why you just might want to stock up on some basic supplies if you feel that you are stretched out with the stamp sets/bundles that you feel you need/want for this month. So sit back and enjoy the inspirations on today's blog hop as we share things related to Getting Our Second Wind with you!!
Today's Project
I have been needing to make some birthday cards. Today's cards are actually began with scraps from some Valentine's Day cards that I had made... and while creating it, it dawned on me that the Approaching Perfection Stamp Set has the perfect sentiments for some very special seniors that I know!
Project Details
The design started with the 3-1/2" square of Basic Black cardstock. The Be Mine Stitched Dies heart outline was going to be filled with Merry Merlot hearts for another card... put a heart was missing. And then I spied the Basic White hearts that were set aside from the actual die cut. And had my ah-ha moment! Time to color some hearts!!! So I grabbed my Light Granny Apple Green, Dark Daffodil Delight, Dark Balmy Blue, Light Flirty Flamingo and Light Mango Melody Blends Markers and randomly colored the hearts and reinserted them to wherever they fit..... lots of time later, I took a deep sigh and breathed. Time to glue them now! LOL!
The heart outline was placed on the Basic Black where I wanted it. Small dots of glue were applied in all the hearts and the process started again. This time faster as so many of the hearts previously didn't "fit" so I finally saw that they do go in easily when they're in the right spot. TIP: For the second card (and all future cards!), I left the hearts on the diecutting plate and colored them as is. This made it so much easier to add them to the outline on the Basic Black cardstock layer.
The 3-3/4" Basic White layer was embossed with the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder. The two Happy Birthday Chick die cut sentiments were scraps from last week's card so I layered them together and adhered them to the hearts layer.
The inside the FUN part! The candles were inked in Granny Apple Green and stamped repeatedly across the layer. The "lit ends" were colored with the Daffodil Delight Blends Marker. The sentiment was inked in Memento and stamped just below them. The Basic White Medium Envelope was also stamped on the front and the envelope flap for the finishing touches.

ReplyDeleteSo glad you liked it, Jan! xx
DeleteOh wow, I didn't realize the Birthday Chick dies have that adorable die cut Happy Birthday in them! I'm not big into chickens, so I thought I might pass...but that's just super cute. Thanks for sharing :-D
ReplyDeleteThere are several more fun birthday related dies in this fun special release die set that you would probably enjoy, Kimberley! :)
DeleteFabulous. As usual. Okay, so I need to look at these dies more closely. And I love how you colored the die-cut hearts with the BLENDS. So much quicker than cutting different colored cardstock.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Susan! And, yes, definitely easier than actually piecing different colors of cardstock. xx
