Happy Sunday! Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I am hopping with the Share it Sunday Blog Hop and the theme is share a project, any project. There are several of us hopping today - you will find the list to follow along towards the bottom of my blog post - so sit back and enjoy your favorite coffee, tea, water or smoothie as we share some handmade projects with you!
Today's Projects
I love the butterflies in the Floating & Fluttering bundle. Last week, I shared how to create your own custom backgrounds to make some quick and easy cards (the card on the left has a custom background - click here for details). Today, I am sharing a simple way to use the bundle to help save postage while using scraps! How many times to you stamp something that isn't quite the way you want it to look? Are you like me and flip it over to the other side and try again? Sometimes for me that just makes it worse... so into the trash pile it goes. Well, not any more when I know I'm making several layered cards.
Project Details
The main stamp is a rather large cluster stamp that makes stamping easy. Cut your Basic White cardstock to 2-3/4" x 11" strips. Ink the butterfly cluster in Memento and stamp on the Basic White cardstock in opposite directions keeping in mind that you will be die cutting the images. Have fun selecting the medium you wish to use for coloring the butterflies. You can use markers, ink or pencils with Memento. If you wish to watercolor, you need to use StazOn instead of Memento. I chose to use the filler stamps as it is quick and easy to fill the images once you select your color palette. Adding layers of Basic Black cardstock helps to make the images pop against the Basic White Thick top-folding card bases. The stamped and white heat embossed sentiments are the perfect encouragement to let these special people in my life know that they are not alone.
The colored butterflies were die cut and adhered to 2-3 layers of Basic White and Basic White Thick cardstocks (goofs are perfect for this as no one will know as they will be stacked under the colorful butterflies). Layering the butterflies this way adds depth while maintaining a solid surface... and it is perfect for the mail. Also, with the cardstock layers, scraps work great for layering on the labels as you only need a partial diecut and could also piece together some, if time is not of the essence for you.
The 5" x 6" Basic Black cardstock layer was embossed with the Old World 3D Embossing Folder and torn downwards along the right side. The remaining piece was set aside for a duplicate.
