I love taking daily walks along the metropark bike trail behind our property.
I am in awe of the beauty along each walk. I usually post pictures taken in the mornings along our route; however, the above pictures where taken just last week when we had a schedule change and walked in the evening as it had rained all day!
Have you gotten one of the Welcome Lean Signs that are being populated on front porches everywhere?!? Well, I haven't, yet... it's one of those things that I have spotted and thought "family project!" - nothing like having a son and hubby that like to build things. Today's project is totally inspired by these wooden signs and the colorful leaves around us.
Having made several slim line cards, opening like books... it was time to play with a top folding slim line which is actually a slim line easel which I have been calling a slim lean card.
The top folding 3-5/8" x 8-1/2" cardbase was created with two sheets of Crumb Cake cardstock. One piece was cut to 3-5/8" x 8-3/4", scored at 1/4" at the top. A second piece was cut to 3-5/8" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4". Tear & Tape Adhesive was used to adhere the two pieces to create the card base. A piece of Whisper White cardstock was cut to 3-1/8" x 8" and embossed with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder twice. due to the extended length.
The Love of Leaves Bundle was used to create the colorful leaves. Soft Sea Foam was the base color for the green leaves sponging with Mint Macaron and Balmy Blue. The remaining leaves were stamped in So Saffron and Crushed Curry while sponging with Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Cinnamon Cider. The Playful Alphabet Dies were used for the letters... TIP: The letter dies were taped with retired washi tape allowing for equal vertical spacing in hopes that the negatives can be used for other projects. Linen thread was frayed, wrapped around the embossed layer twice and tied off with a bow.
For the inside, the layers were repeated. A 3/4" x 3-3/8" Crumb Cake panel was topped with an embossed Whisper White panel and leaf. The layers were adhered with liquid glue once the angle of the "lean sign" was to my liking (around the 6" mark). With plenty of white space for a note or a homemade notepad, wouldn't this make the perfect gift and/or home decor item?! For gifting and mailing, the card fits perfectly in a #10 Business Size Envelope that you can purchase at local stores. For a special touch, use the Gilded Autumn Specialty DSP to cut a coordinating liner for the envelope.
