Thanks for stopping by and visiting the Third Thursdays Blog Hop! It's definitely feeling like fall here today in NW Ohio with the morning temperature and the daily high being within single digits of each other. The leaves are definitely changing and some are falling. So I have something fun in store for you today to share with teachers or for those of you who want a fun homeschool activity with your kids. Sit back and enjoy a cuppa as you peruse along today's blog hop for a little Golden Rule Days inspiration!!!
I have always loved making a set of thank you cards for teachers in the past whenever my boy needed to take in a gift to the teacher... so needless to say, the teachers usually received more than one set of cards from me during the school year. At this time of year, my favorite cards to make have always been nature themed cards (of course, right?!?) especially the Duoprinting with Chlorophyll cards! So today's feature some cards from some leaves that my walking partner and I picked up this morning.
So here's what we did with them...
Arrange the leaves on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and cover with another sheet of same.
Run them through your cut & emboss machine as you would a die cut at least twice, maybe three times, depends on the leaves, of course. You definitely want to see the dampness of the leaves on the paper to get the best impression possible.
Separate the sheets and remove the leaves! One sheet will be darker than the other.
And here are the four cards that I was able to make!
With the below pictures showing how I actually cut the sheets!
Just remember, you want to press the freshly fallen leaves... the ones that still feel fresh when you pick them off the ground. And the non-waxy feeling ones will work best for this technique. Of course, if the trees belong to you, feel free to pick them off the tree, but I personally always wait for them to drop. Pressing them just gives them one last hurrah before they completely dry.
Gifting cards like this to a teacher may even give them an idea for a fun school activity during these fall days ahead! So the next time you see a leaf... what will you do? Pass by it or enjoy its beauty by creating a forever memory with it?
I hope that my project has inspired you in some way today. Please continue along the blog hop for additional inspiration!

ReplyDeleteOMG so awesome. Reminds of the days we would press leaves in the fall between wax paper and press it with a hot iron! This is definitely a project I want to CASE. Thanks so much for sharing.
