I'm a mom to a growing teenager, a dog mom of 3 angel dogs and one 2-year-old Shih Tzu, a cat mom of one angel cat, and the wife of a wonderful man who loves his toys. So needless to say, I am surrounded by kids 24/7! **wink**
Today's card represents my love of pets, my furry babies and friends. After all, aren't they just little people wearing furry coats?!? They have so much personality and special ways they communicate with us. The Pampered Pets bundle, a part of the Playful Pets Suite in the 2020-21 Annual Catalog, pp. 40-42, is perfect for making any kid or kid-at-heart smile from ear to ear!
This Mini Slim Line Card measuring 3" x 6-1/2" (thanks to Taylor Van Bruggen for the inspiration) is just the perfect size for small hands to hold.
Cut a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock to 6" x 6-1/2", score at 3" and burnish with a bone folder. Cut two Whisper White layers measuring 2-3/4" x 6-1/4". Die cut the openings using the 2-3/8" and 1-7/8" squares from the Layering Squares dies. Using the Basic Patterns Decorative Masks, sponge the top panel with Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point. Lightly pencil an outline on the card front using one of the layers. Remove the layers after aligning the Decorative Mask. Sponge the card front and erase the pencil marks.
Stamp the dogs and cat in Memento Tuxedo Black and die cut with the coordinating dies. Color the images with Stampin' Blends Markers. Arrange the die cuts and trim off any access. TIPS: The kitty is hanging slightly over the bottom opening and adhered to the backside of the bottom panel; the front pup is centered with his tilted head not blocking the kitty; while the Astro look-alike (from The Jetsons) is the focal point and adhered to the foam adhesive behind the top panel (this is what helps with his 3D appearance).
Stamp the Free as a Bird sentiment in VersaMark onto a scrap piece of Pacific Point. Heat emboss with White Stampin' Emboss Powder and adhere to the top panel with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. Adhere the bottom panel to the card front with liquid glue.
The inside is as important as the card front, so the sponging was added without applying additional ink. The A Grand Kid sentiment was stamped in Pacific Point. The paws were sponged with Pacific Point after creating a stencil from the die cut.
A custom envelope was created with two pieces of copy paper. The front and flap were stamped to compliment the card.
