Last month, the lovely Angela Meritz-Reid CAS(e)d me so I could not help but CAS(e) her this month with using something new to me - embossing paste!!! Isn't this card gorgeous?!? Angela mixed a drop of Pool Party ink refill with her embossing paste for her amazing background.
I have been wanting to play with embossing paste for almost three years now... and, oh, how fun it is to play with!!! It's just the clean-up that is a bit messy and definitely something to do immediately after you are done... do not wait five minutes like I did unless you don't mind milky white looking masks! **WINK** After spending quite awhile at the kitchen sink scrubbing my masks, I remembered Angela using the laser cut DSP for her card so I used Whisper White cardstock to create my own paper stencils from a few of my favorite dies. Using cardstock for masks definitely makes clean-up easier - keep or toss... no washing needed except for the embossing palette which cleans so easily.
The Many Medallions and the Poppy Moments Dies are definitely some of my favorites!
Bumblebee ink was applied to the dried background in circular motions with a Blender Brush, but sponge daubers could also work.
Did you notice the sunflowers?!? One is stamped in Bumblebee and the other is off-stamped. A blender pen was used to color the ray florets with hand sanitizer and Bumblebee ink refill - thanks to Connie Collins' Faux Alcohol Coloring Technique! Bumblebee is not included in the Stampin' Blends family at the moment so this was a perfect solution for the look I was after. The hand sanitizer evaporates quickly, so a simple 1:1 ratio for mixing the hand sanitizer and ink refill made it easy to replicate as needed.
The disc florets can be colored the same way if you do not have the Just Jade Stampin' Blends Combo Pack. The sentiments are inked with VersaMark, stamped onto Just Jade cardstock and heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss Powder. One sentiment was fussy cut while the other was trimmed, die-cut on one end and punched with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch on the other. The Bumblebee 1/4" Gingham Ribbon was the must have ribbon for one card while the Whisper White 5/8" Dotted Tulle Ribbon just right for the other.
The inside is just as important as the card front! The layers, stamping and coloring were continued for continuity while leaving plenty of room to correspond with the recipient.
And don't forget to stamp the envelopes as it is a sneak peek of what's inside for the recipient.
