Welcome to The Joy of Sets Blog Hop! You are currently visiting Angie McKenzie from the USA and are either starting with me or landing here after visiting the blog of Rochelle Laird-Smith. I hope that you are enjoying your weekend!
The Joy of Sets is a closed Facebook group full of papercrafters who love to stamp and create beautiful things whether it is cards, 3D projects, or scrapbooking. The best part of the group is that we share the love of using all of our stamping supplies from any company whether it's new or old. If you need some crafting mojo with your supplies, this is a group you should check out! And there's several group members who will be hopping every month throughout the year!
So are you enjoying your summer?!? I still cannot that June is here already!!! So with warmer weather here it's only fitting that the theme this month is SPLISH-SPLASH. So sit back with a cuppa and enjoy the water themed projects that we're all about to share!
The By the Dock stamp set and coordinating Dockside Dies is perfect for creating a relaxing masculine card... especially when your son loves to fish! We have a small pond on our property and almost everyday, he is outside fishing along the edges of the pond. He and his dad also love to go fishing together once in a blue moon to the numerous tranquil fishing lakes within a relaxing driving distance for a day filled with fishing. So I created this card with them in mind. Along with his tips and suggestions with certain elements of the card.
The dock was the stamped in Saddle Brown Stazon onto Shimmery White cardstock.
The boat was the hardest for me to position as I felt the boat was connected to the rope...
so I stamped it four different times and had my fisherman help me with selecting the best position.
Of course, had I used the die for the boat, it would have been a timesaver, but it wasn't
the look I was going for this watercolor masterpiece.
The boat and dock were watercolored with Crumb Cake. The water was watercolored with Bermuda Bay. The Mountain Air stamp set finished the lake scene perfectly as it was watercolor stamped with Garden Green and Crumb Cake and then stamped again with Garden Green to accentuate the pine trees. The paddle was die cut and colored with the Bronze Stampin' Blends Marker. The Shimmery White layer was embossed with the Tasteful Textures 3D embossing folder. The A Good Man sentiment was stamped in Stazon.
The inside and envelope were stamped to compliment the card front. And the fish was watercolored as a rainbow trout per the recommendation of my son. The Tasteful Labels Dies were a perfect fit for the By the Dock sentiments! And don't you just love the frog on the envelope?!
I hope you have been inspired by my project today. There are several of us participating so be sure to hop around each of the blogs to see all the amazing "love" inspiration. I know you don't want to miss any creative inspiration... so up next is Annette!
