Ink and Inspiration Blog Hop - June 2020 - Focus on Tools

Watercoloring is one of my favorite techniques so when Stampin' Up! recently introduced the new Water Painters they wound up in my craft room as soon as possible!  What's the big deal you might ask?  The brush tips are all different - there is 1 broad flat tip (perfect for backgrounds), 1 medium tip and 1 fine tip (perfect for lettering and details).

                                                                                                                                                                    For today's card, the broad flat tip water painter was used to paint stripes on Shimmery White cardstock.  The ink pad lids were used as the palettes as I love to watercolor so the remaining ink can  be used at another time.  The flat side of the brush created the broad lines while the side of the brush was used to created the narrower lines.

The Many Medallions die cut background was trimmed with paper snips - another wonderful tool!! - and placed over the watercolored background as an overlay.  The overlay was adhered with liquid glue strategically behind the squares in the design. 

The amazing sunflower from Celebrate Sunflowers was stamped in Saddle Brown Stazon on Shimmery White.  Watercolored with the medium tip water painter with Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Soft Suede, the image was die cut with the coordinating die when dry.  The Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder added a soft touch of texture beneath the watercolored backgrounds.  The Soft Suede sentiment was fussy cut to compliment the detailed die cut overlay.  Linen thread was added a finishing touch.

And for the inside, the theme was followed through with more watercoloring with the medium tip water painter!  The envelope was stamped with the sentiment that had been fussy cut for the card front so the recipient has a sneak peek of what's inside without actually knowing about the sunshine that's inside.
