Hello and thanks for joining us for Kylie’s Stampin' Up!® Demonstrator Training Support Program Monthly Team Blog Hop! We are so happy that have joined us today for this blog hop full of ideas and creative inspiration. We are part of a group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators from around the world participating in a training program that is helping us to build a successful Stampin' Up!® business while reaching for our individual goals. We greatly appreciate your support.
You may be starting here or have come from another blog - either way you can find the link list at the bottom of this post so that you can see every blog post and idea today.
I love to create my own custom backgrounds aka homemade DSP (Designer Series Paper)! Do you ever fear of running out of your favorite DSP or there are only a couple of sheets that you love in a pack so you use it all and are left with pages and pages of gorgeous paper that you just really didn't want in the first place? Well, that's when CAP (Custom Artistry Paper) comes to the rescue! Yes, I just made up that name... rather catchy isn't it?!?
The Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper is amazing and it's retiring soon. Below are my two favorite papers from the whole pack! Granted every single sheet of this pack was much loved by me and it was a first for me to actually use all the paper! And as Kylie always says, "you have permission to buy more"... well, I did as it is truly amazing paper.
Now back to custom backgrounds... or custom artistry paper aka CAP. I loved recreating this pattern with the Painted Poppies stamp set! And as you know, I love stretching out my projects... why make just one when you can create two! Today's project features one of the two cards that I made with this fun technique... and the other is part of a collaborative tutorial with my Global Creative INKspirations friends for anyone who purchases the Painted Poppies stamp set through my online store before June 3, 2020.
Cut it in half with your Paper Trimmer to create two cards from one background. Cut a layer of Blackberry Bliss that is the same size as your CAP for layering. Use a scrap piece for die cutting the detailed edge. Color the single poppy that you had set aside earlier and cut it down to fit the die cut edge. Glue the die onto the back and tear the cardstock downwards on the right edge. Stamp the Label Me Bold sentiment in Blackberry Bliss on scrap pieces of Whisper White and fussy cut.
To do the splatters, make sure the nib is wet with the ink. Grab a pencil or another acrylic block (TIP: it's easy to clean afterwards!), and tap the aqua painter on it whereever you wish the splatter to be. And, oh, be sure to lay down some scrap paper or a washable surface to do this on! It won't take long for it to dry, but touch it for awhile especially with the shimmer paint unless you want to be shimmery all day. **SMILE**
And while you're splattering go ahead and do the inside of the cardbase to continue the fun!
The inside of a card is just as important as the front, so remember to compliment it as much as possible with similar if not identical layers. The sentiment that I chose for the inside front comes from the A Big Thank You stamp set which is retiring on June 2nd.
Here are two additional color palettes I've tried earlier today!!! Which is your favorite color palette from this blog post today --- Original Palette (above), Alternate I or Alternate II?!? Can you guess which one is MY favorite color palette?!? Let me know in the comments below.
I hope that today's project has inspired you to think of ways to create your own DSP, or CAP aka Custom Artistry Paper. I cannot wait to see what you come up with as you try different color palettes! And please remember to not just create your cards... share your love with others via snail mail during these days of lockdowns as we stay home to stay healthy.
