For this month's challenge designed by Fiona Whitehead, you can select any three of the design elements in a row on the board going in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal direction. I have chosen the diagonal row of Birthday | Things That Fly | Sponging.
The Free as a Bird stamp set was the first thing that came to mind for this nature lover. The birds on the branch were stamped in Saddle Brown Stazon ink onto Whisper White cardstock. The branch, leaves and blooms were all watercolored with a damp Aqua Painter (soon to retire!!!). The chickadees were colored to match those that I frequently see along the trail... with the black bibs colored with the Basic Black watercolor pencil. As the coloring was drying, the background was sponged with Balmy Blue onto a Whisper White layer that was slightly smaller than the 5-3/8" x 4-1/8" die cut top layer which was saved from a previous project. The watercolored birds were fussy cut with care. Linen thread was wrapped around the top layer twice and tied off with a bow. The Timeless Tropical sentiment was stamped in Saddle Brown Stazon and die cut with a Stitched Nested Labels Die. Adhesive foam strips were adhered to the backside of the top layer and adhered to the sponged background. The branch was adhered to the top layer with a mini glue dot and to the sponged background with double layers of dimensionals and mini dimensionals. The layers were adhered to the Thick Whisper White card base (measuring 5-1/2" x 11", scored at 4-1/4" and 8-1/2" on the long side) with liquid glue after the inside was completed.
For the inside, the So Sentimental bundle was a perfect touch for a special gift insert! The sentiment was stamped Saddle Brown Stazon and then cut with the largest die. The flap was punched with the Detailed Trio Punch on either side with Linen Thread woven through three times and tied off with a bow. The sentiment label was adhered with Mini Glue Dots. The flap was adhered closed with Tear & Tape Adhesive. And, yes, the envelope will also be stamped for the recipient to enjoy!
I hope that today's project has inspired you to participate in The Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe Challenge, #JOSTTT017. Please be sure to pop over to receive more inspiration from the other design team members and I look forward to seeing your entry (entries) on the blog!
And since it is Fiona's birthday month, she is offering a gift voucher donated by Clearly Besotted for one winner. PLUS, we are participating with Double Trouble once again for a double challenge which adds to the fun so be sure to check out the fun criteria for the double challenge using the #JOSTTT017 grid that starts on May 4th. My card fits the Double Dare so I'll see you over at the challenge!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous card! Beautiful birds sitting on a branch in what looks like could be a shadow box. I like how you did your twine on the inside. Thank you for sharing with Double Trouble Challenge #56.
