This past weekend was the first holiday weekend that we've experienced with this new normal that we are in and I must say that it was not as much fun without all the gatherings, parades and fireworks! Here's hoping that the BIG one later in July will be quite different. But at least, with the clearer skies the stars at night have been brilliant and not obscured by clouds other than the few rain clouds. Looking at the constellations here in NW Ohio is amazing... it reminds me of the summer before I married my honey when my future father-in-law shared his love of the constellations with me along the edge of the rocky cliff at The Driftwood Inn in Maine as we peered out over Casco Bay. Amazing memories that I will always cherish as he left this earth way too early... and now it's up to me and my hubby to pass along his love of stars to the next generation.
The minute I saw the Stargazing stamp set in the 2019-20 Annual Catalog, it was definitely a "must have" set for me. And like my father-in-law is has been short-lived (it has already been discontinued!) It was also much overlooked! What many may see as a galaxy mass... my eyes saw as a leaf! Not only any leaf... but a leaf that resembles the leaf from my dream which is part of my logo!
I definitely felt that this stamp set was designed just for me! It is unbelievable how it feels like me... and even more so when I go back in time to my initial drawing which was done shortly after I awoke on that Thursday morning three years ago (you can read all about it here)!!! As the sentiment says... "if you dream it, you can do it"... AMEN! Dreams can come true... you just have to believe!
The fun part about stamping today's project was playing with the different colors of green for this leaf! Choosing to play with Pear Pizzazz (matches my logo), Mint Macaron (my favorite shade of green), and Granny Apple Green (my favorite apple) made it easy to create! Also by stamping these colors onto Shimmery White cardstock, the stamped hues were a bit warmer than they would have been if they were stamped on Whisper White... thus Mint Macaron looking like Just Jade, Granny Apple Green like Garden Green/Pear Pizzazz and Pear Pizzazz like Old Olive!
Blushing Bride was applied to both horizontal cards with an ink blending brush, but a Stampin' Sponge or sponge dauber can create this same effect. The horizontal cards also have Shimmery White embossed Greenery layers (the Greenery Embossing Folders are part of the new Forever Greenery Suite in the 2020-21 Annual Catalog). The sentiment was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Shimmery White, fussy cut and adhered to the card front with Adhesive Strips which were colored with the Blushing Bride Stampin' Write Marker to fit over the Linen Thread.
The vertical card has a Pear Pizzazz Old World Paper embossed layer that was adhered to a Garden Green card base. The Old Olive Linen Thread was wrapped around the layers and tied off with double strands. The sentiment was fussy cut and adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals.
The insides are just as important as the card fronts so they were layered and embossed to compliment the card fronts leaving room to handwrite a personal message to the recipients.
I hope that these projects have inspired you to enjoy this amazing stamp set and already have it as it has been much loved by many and has unfortunately been discontinued by the time of this blog post!!!
