Yes, I'm always thinking... thinking of creating cards for those dear to me! The sketch challenge at the Global Design Project this week was the perfect excuse to use Beautiful Day one more time before I set it aside into my retired stamps stash. The #GDP242 layout would work great with either of the large images.
The designer in me played with the layout just a bit to highlight the bloom. Blends, Wink of Stella, the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder and a touch Baker's Twine did the work to create this card. Inspired by hotel drapery, I hope that the simple elegance of this project inspires you!
Beautiful Day has two amazing large images and two thoughtful sentiments which are perfect for so many occasions. The floral image reminded me of some hotel draperies that I knew would be a card inspiration for one day. In need of a sympathy card, the drapery colors were recalled for color inspiration.
The floral bloom was stamped in Smoky Slate onto Whisper White cardstock. Daffodil Delight and Smoky Slate Blends Markers Combo Packs were the colors of choice to compliment the layers of Smoky Slate and Basic Gray. The Basic Gray layer was embossed with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder. The white embossed sentiment perfect for so many occasions was a heartfelt choice for this sympathy card as it was adhered with Foam Adhesive Strips (which were colored along the edges with the Dark Smoky Slate Blends Marker) straddling the Whisper White Baker's Twine. A touch of Stella to the flower center and three pearls added the finishing touches.
The inside of a card is just as important as the card front, if not more so! The layers were repeated along with stamping and coloring a portion of the floral bloom.
I hope that this has inspired you to consider finding a sketch challenge for some of your cards. Inspiration is everywhere! And while you're at it, don't forget to check out the weekly challenges over at the Global Design Project.
