The Free as a Bird stamp set was one of first must have bundles from the Annual Catalog that has not been inked up enough... so I thought I would attempt the coloring of a rose-breasted grosbeak.
The Free as a Bird bird stamp was stamped in Jet Black Stazon onto Whisper White cardstock while the branches were stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento. The branch was colored with the Light Stampin' Blends Marker and the leaves with Light Granny Apple Green and Dark Old Olive Stampin' Blends Markers. The bird's legs and beak were lightly touched with a Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends Marker. The bird was watercolored by applying a damp Aqua Painter to the tips of the Basic Black and Melon Mambo watercolor pencils multiple times until the desired results were achieved. Once the coloring was complete, the elements were fussy cut. The Bokeh Dots background was created with Granny Apple Green ink and the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.
For the bling element of the challenge, I chose to heat emboss the sentiment with Shimmer White Stampin' Emboss Powder. Just the right amount to draw attention to a bird, don't you think?
The Melon Mambo cardbase and layers are inspired by Marilyn's gorgeous gown! And, of course, the bling sentiment is the frosting that she wore with it!
The layers and the bling sentiment were also carried over to the inside of the card.
While the leaf carried over to the inside and the envelope!
A big thank you to The Paper Players PP487 challenge for the inspiration to go outside my creative comfort zone and add a little bling to my card!
