FARMS!!! is the inspiration this month during this amazing Color Challenge Kre8tors Blog Hop! With inspiration coming from such a gorgeous picture for this talented bunch of Kre8tors, I know you will want to sit back and enjoy a hot cuppa while you peruse along the hop.
Well, when you love farm life and the challenge colors and can't throw in a pop of green, I was stumped! It took me awhile to figure out what I was going to do until I driving around in our 1961 MGA one evening and I saw the sunset behind a beautiful red barn like the one pictured. Breathtaking it was, I must say. I wanted to use the Heartland so bad for this challenge, but it wasn't working for me creatively. So I took it from another view... and focused on the skyline and then I was dreaming of fields of tulips! A tulip farm!!!
Being inspired by the sunset drive, a Highland Heather and Petal Pink watercolor wash created the a skyline sunset after the windmill image was stamped in Gray Granite onto Shimmery White cardstock. The tulips were watercolored with Cherry Cobbler. The windmill was watercolored with Gray Granite and accented with Early Expresso.
The area below the tulips was watercolored in Early Expresso to represent the time of day when the sun is setting (inspired by the sunset drive!). The Rooted in Nature sentiment was stamped in Early Expresso and fussy cut. The left edge of the watercolored layer was torn from top to bottom to some texture. The layer was adhered with liquid glue to a Cherry Cobbler layer to compliment the tulips.
The Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo came in perfect for a finishing touch, but wait... the linen thread is Early Expresso! Yes, it was inked up (regular Linen Thread not the gorgeous Mossy Meadow!) with Early Expresso and then rubbed with inky fingers to make sure it was well covered. This is such a fun touch to do!
The Cherry Cobbler layer was next adhered to a Petal Pink card base which was stamped with the Birch background stamp in Petal Pink.
This card was made for a special friend who is going through a challenging time so the inside sentiment from Inspiring Iris conveys the perfect message.
The single tulip image from Winds of Change was off stamped in Gray Granite. The sentiment was stamped in Early Expresso. The tulips were watercolored with Cherry Cobbler.
A Whisper White envelope will be stamped and watercolored to compliment the card for my friend later today.
Thank you for visiting my blog today, I hope that you have been inspired to get yourself just a bit inky!
