Welcome to the June 2019 edition of the Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop! You are currently visiting Angie McKenzie from the USA. The theme this month is a MALE SKETCH so it's all about the BOYS!
Vicki Hunter provided such a FUN sketch for us this month! It would be great for a card or scrapbook layout. I chose to make a card to give to my son when his summer vacation is over and a new school year starts.
Inspired by my son's "fort" that he has built with his friends, it was rather easy to envision this card for him. The fort is amongst some trees on our property and there has been a lot of hard work to go into this fun hangout. I got his permission to take some pictures, but "not the inside"!
The rope die was the perfect addition to this layout to add some texture other than the wood DSP which is the focal point on which a Night of Navy silhouette is stamped. "Look out! Here comes someone!" I can hear them whispering amongst themselves. These kids (no pictures unfortunately) are so fun to watch as they are off on an "adventure" every time they play together. And who knows, maybe one day they will find a treasure chest full of jewels or some long lost jewels at the bottom of the blue lagoon! Yes, that's why these blue "jewels" are on this card!
Thought you would like to see some visual tips for making this card... the foam strips were used for support plus for a pleasing visual from different angles. The sides were colored with the Light Night of Navy Blends Marker. The sentiment which consists of three layers of die cuts for dimension was partially glued with liquid glue onto the "fort" lookout.
The inside compliments the card front along with having the perfect sentiment to make any one's day!
I hope this card has inspired you to get creative with your cards by getting inspirations from sketches for your layouts. You are currently visiting Angie McKenzie.
