Soft Watercolor Heartland for Global Design Project #193

Intrigued by the color challenge over at Global Design Project (#GDP193), I knew that I had to play with the Soft Watercolor Background technique that the talented Stesha Bloodhart, recently shared on Instagram. 

Pineapple Punch was my color of choice for this technique done on Shimmery White cardstock.  The first attempt with this vibrant color was definitely soft... and maybe a bit too spritzed.  While the second attempt used less spritz and less swoosh with dabbing producing bigger splotches of color.  Once dry, both backgrounds were stamped with the Crackle Paint background stamp using Night of Navy ink.

The Heartland image was stamped with Stazon Jet Black ink onto a piece of Shimmery White cardstock.  The spotlight coloring was done with Night of Navy and Granny Apple Green inks and a Blender Pen.  The Blender Pen allowed for precise strokes and color lifting when too much ink was applied.

The torn edging was done by hand and sized by sight.  The layers were all adhered with liquid adhesive.

The inside continues the feel of the card front by using the trimmed scrap piece from the background remaining from the card front.

Here's a picture of the cards created with both of my two attempts with Pineapple Punch.  As you probably guessed, no two backgrounds will ever be identical.  I hope these have inspired you to try this messy, fun technique.
