My Granny - my daddy's mother - had the most beautiful peony bush with the largest soft pink blooms that I have ever seen... she never trimmed them back and they continued to thrive year after year. And most of all, she was amazed at how much they grew without her doing anything to them. Granny did not have a green thumb, but she loved her flowers wherever they decided to grow.
Thankfully, my mom was able to get a cutting of that beautiful bush, but it went for years without blooming. I guess it was in shock or just trying to adjust to being in Georgia red clay instead of Tennessee dirt. My parents will be moving up to Ohio in the near future so I am hoping to transplant that lovely bush once again into another type of soil... so here's hoping that in a few years I will be able to see those beautiful soft pink peonies blooms in my own yard from years gone by.
The current challenge at Nature's INKspirations Challenges is a picture of a peony from my neighbor's front yard... it is nothing like the bush from memories long ago, but it caused the floodgates to open with my creative mojo.
So the cards that I created for this challenge go without explanation other than I was thankful that I had this incredible retired stamp set to use... Definitely Decorative® Pretty Peony (Spring~Summer 2008 Collection Catalog) with current colors.
As you can see by my work surface on the grid paper, I did a lot of off stamping to create the colors of the peonies and the leaves! And I couldn't help but not come up with another color combination.
There's another color combination that I would like to try for a peachy peony... but that's another day! So which color combination is your favorite?! What's your favorite color of peony?
Thanks so much for stopping by today for some inspiration.
Have a blessed day!
