Today's post is a celebration for my eldest niece who just had a birthday last month!!! Tsk, tsk... I just finished her homemade gift yesterday, but aren't birthdays worth celebrating all year long?!? Yes, they are because we are all special in our own individual sort of way!
I purchased some Canson Mix Media binders (heavyweight paper for wet and dry techniques) at the beginning of the year thinking that I would gift them to my nieces to keep them upbeat during the cold, winter weather. And then life happens, "to do" lists get reprioritized and fun projects get shifted to another time. Yesterday, I was one day shy of her one-month-late birthday celebration rushing out the door to mail her present!!! But guess what?!? Delays happen for a reason... the front cover inspiration did not hit me until this past weekend PLUS I ran into a FitBit walking buddy at the post office. What more could a relieved, happy stamper ask for?!? :)
So can you guess where the color inspiration came from?!?!?
Sara Douglass!!! Last month's Paper Pumpkin kit - A Sara Thing - totally made me think outside the box! I thought for sure, I would completely recover the binder with DSP to cover up the black cover. I am so thankful for the inspiration from Sara - it was definitely an "ahhh ha" moment for me!
Planning this project months ago, I envisioned stamping all the pages as a unique customized coloring book. But as you know, creative people tend to change their minds as they're creating something... Since I felt pressed for time (after all it was a belated gift now instead of an early gift), I stamped the inside thinking she could color the stamped images and use it as a journal. The more I stamped, I thought "maybe, just maybe," she could tear out the perforated pages and frame some of her coloring or maybe even turn some into cards!!! That's when it clicked and I happily finished stamping each remaining page in the binder. Whew - I'd still be stamping full pages right now if I hadn't had the creative change!
Have a blessed day and thanks for stopping by!
